Following the success of the first edition of the Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition programme in November 2021, EIT Manufacturing CLC East is again teaming up with the Vienna Business Agency to organize the Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition for the second time, this time during the ViennaUP’22 festival – the largest decentralized start-up festival in Central Europe. Up to 15 start-ups can get one of the hot tickets, receive business coaching from the EIT Manufacturing experts and win a fast-track ticket to its deal flow for funding of up to 300,000 EUR.
Vienna is well-known as the most liveable city in the world, because of its human-centred approach in designing all major areas in the city, be it economy, education, transportation, digitalisation and many more. The Austrian capital has a long-lasting history in manufacturing innovation. With over 8,500 companies creating over 12,3 billion EUR revenue, the manufacturing sector enables future-oriented jobs and drives growth and innovation in the city. Vienna has also established itself as a central European start-up-hotspot with high attractiveness to innovative founders from Austria and abroad.
With their initiative “Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition”, EIT Manufacturing CLC East and the Vienna Business Agency give up to 15 start-ups and scale-ups from Central and Eastern European countries – including Austria – the chance to participate in a five-day intensive programme in the Austrian capital. The young founders will be invited to Vienna from 30th May to 3rd June to explore the domestic industry scene and the local start-up ecosystem. During the stay, the programme will contain networking opportunities with start-ups and potential investors during the ViennaUP’22 festival, company visits to key industry partners, meetings with corporates and info sessions about funding opportunities and latest technology. On top of this, the participants will receive business development training and investment readiness mentoring. The participation in Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition can be an entry point to the EIT Manufacturing funding opportunities and will allow the startups access to the CLC East partner network.
During their stay in Vienna, EIT Manufacturing CLC East provides the start-up representatives with free office space; the costs for travelling to and from Vienna as well as for accommodation (except for applicants based in Vienna) will be covered by the organizers. Chosen candidates get the chance to gain visibility and international publicity by pitching live at the BoostUp! East Finals event at the Manufacturing Day powered by EIT Manufacturing on 1st June. The winners of the BoostUp! East Finals will get a fast-track ticket to the EIT Manufacturing deal flow for funding of up to 300,000 EUR.
